Holy Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Friday, April 30

Today at noon is the decoration of the bier. Children ages 2 to 12 are invited and encouraged to participate in the adornment of the tomb of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Children attending the decorating of the Holy Bier are invited and encouraged to bring something beautiful from home, such as flowers, greens, or leaves cut fresh from the yard, to leave at the foot of the Cross of Our Lord. Khouria Kristina will offer a brief, engaging reflection at the tomb.

Friday, April 30

Today at 3 PM is the Great Vespers of the Un-nailing of Christ from the Cross.

Friday, April 30

Tonight at 6 PM is the service of Lamentation, or rather exaltation of our crucified Lord and Savior. We will process with the tomb/the bier around the church building and sing praises at His graveside. The All Night Vigil of  the reading of the Psalter continues until morning. There is a sign-up sheet, but feel welcome to come as you are able.

Saturday, May 1

Saturday morning at 9 AM is the powerful service of the “Harrowing of Hades,” when we enter into Christ’s life-bestowing victory in the place of death, with the changing of the colors from dark to light.

Saturday, May 1 – Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen

10 PM Saturday is the service of Great and Holy Pascha, where we “Come receive the light from the Light that is never overtaken by the night!“ A feast will follow.

Sunday, May 2

Sunday at noon we celebrate Agape Great Vespers, proclaiming the Gospel of the Resurrection in many languages. This service concludes with a procession to the shrine of the Empty Tomb in the woods and is followed by a great feast (a pitch-in meal) with a candy hunt for the children.

Wednesday, May 5

The 40-Day memorial for Galina McLaws is Wednesday at 6 PM, followed by Bright Week Vespers.

Housekeeping note:

This is just a reminder that candles should be held upright to avoid dripping wax on the floor, the new chairs, or the person seated in front of you.  It is easy to become absorbed in worship and not notice. Adults, please help children with this practice. Thank You.

Food for Hungry People and Outreach Fund: Checks may be made out to All Saints or you may donate online at the church website. We will send all contributions to the Antiochian Archdiocese after Great Pascha.

Donations to the church are being made online at www.allsaintsbloomington.org and by U.S mail.  Many thanks to all who continue supporting All Saints.
